We decided that no one is interested in our opinion regarding the new adventures of Kratos. That is why, in this video, we tried not only to tell you about the new part, but also about some of the industry trends that the developers followed when creating God of War.

In my opinion, denying the disadvantages of the category “Yes, the game has a lot of repetitions of bosses, but the original also sinned with this, so it doesn’t matter” is a fundamentally wrong decision. If the game breaks down on the same feature, then this is an indicator that the game needs to poke its nose at this error, otherwise it will never go away and in the sequel we will have not ten repaints of the same boss, but twenty. You’re too soft with the game.
I slightly disagree with the words about “the maturation of the industry”; in this case, changing the image of Kratos is an attempt to gain a new audience through the banal use of plot devices already proven in the industry (I’m not talking about the quality of using these techniques, but about their very presence), but the very fact is that if you replace Kratos with a standard Viking, remove some references to previous parts, and the game would lose almost nothing from this. And the corresponding question arises – if the game does not receive anything from a certain element, then why introduce this element at all?? For the sake of popularity, of course! It’s a banal miracle (or luck) that the studio managed to properly introduce the character into the setting and write his character so that everything looked natural, otherwise it would all be a complete farce, because the same Duke Nukem is almost impossible to imagine in an “adult” version, so it’s not necessary.
In short, tl;dr: the review came out too soft, the game is good, but not without its drawbacks, which almost no one except two or three video bloggers pointed out, which is very sad.
I don’t agree about QTE. It’s not a bad game, but they’re not a relic of the past. They just need to be done right. So that in the cut scene the player does not have to look for which random button will need to be pressed in order for the hero to jump.
How much earlier than the release date should you give the disc with the game to Konstantin so that the review (even a text one) comes out on time??)
Like in that joke about nuance.
WHY didn’t Kratos say Atreus was a god?? BECAUSE! WHY didn’t Kratos say where he was from?? BECAUSE!
Because the child is not able to fully perceive this information. Which actually resulted in rather unpleasant consequences. Here an adult is not always able to perceive such news.
Why didn’t Kratos talk about his past?? How can a person tell how he ran around like a crazy psychopath, cutting out everything living and dead, guilty and innocent?. How can a person calmly remember all the carnage he caused?? Yes, at that moment he didn’t care, but it’s clear that over the years all his actions came back to haunt him personally. You could tell your son, just like that, how in a furious delirium you slaughtered both enemies and civilians? Just because I was very angry at everyone?
The combat is more than excellent, you just need to get used to it. I have a friend who plays it on maximum difficulty, swears at the one-shots, but doesn’t want to call the combat shit because he likes it. And there are no randoms there, unlike those very Souls, which perceives dodges every once in a while.
but just the fact that if you replaced Kratos with a standard Viking, remove some references to previous parts, and the game would lose almost nothing from it.
Won’t work. It http://primespielautomat.co.uk/ just won’t work. There, the Wow effect from the first seconds occurs due to the fact that Kratos is talking. He speaks calmly, and does not yell in a pretentious tone – “I WILL KILL you. ». This already develops the character a lot, makes him human, shows his growth as a person. There is nothing special about the fact that some standard Viking talks and introduces meaningful dialogues. This is fine. And the fact that Kratos conducts meaningful dialogues and talks – this is some fucking character development. The script grabs you right away.
Oh no, someone disagrees with the majority opinion. Come on, citizens of stopgame, even more minuses in the profile. After all, I don’t like the new year of war.
The fact that games are maturing is, of course, great, but they are not doing this in the “latest” time, but steadily for about 5-7 years now. And it seems good that CAMPUSHTER TOYS have ceased to be entertainment for stupid children, but have become interactive art for all ages..
But you would know how sometimes there is a lack of games that are bright, kind and simple in terms of moral dilemmas. Like the same Fable. In this regard, I’m glad that Activision will release remasters of Crash and Spyro on PC (too poor for PS4, sorry), otherwise the console players got all the juice (
Why does almost complete cutting of the plot deserve 98 points??
Zelda may be much richer and more varied in terms of gameplay, but what’s the point of its half-empty open world if the game doesn’t provide any motivation to play through other than your own sense of exploration??
GoW is much more standard, and yes, in some ways quite clichéd, but are clichés in themselves really that bad?? It’s not about the clichés themselves, but about their use. Yes, we’ve already seen all this crap with fathers and children more than once or twice, but so what? This is still a well-written script that captivates with its characters, atmosphere, and dialogue. Zelda can only captivate you with masturbation, and no matter how you cover it all up with rich functions, it’s essentially one huge masturbation game.
And I never understood this “This is a movie with dull gameplay” style complaint. What’s wrong with that?? The games finally began to look like cinema, which everyone had been waiting for a long time, and when the moment came, everyone immediately started screaming “yyyy movie” and went to play PUBG, a game for woodpeckers © Denis Karamyshev.
Although I prefer to play on PC, in fairness it is worth admitting that it is the best console game in recent times, and indeed the best. And in my opinion the best Sony exclusive for her gaming biography. Of course there are some tiny drawbacks. But in the totality of all aspects, this game is just perfect!
The character can talk – character development. What? How will people be upset if Freeman speaks in Half Life 3?.
The comparison with Skyrim is again wrong. Zelda is pure gameplay and level exploration. TES in general and Skyrim in particular, it’s not just “go clear a point on the map”, these are ordinary quests, these are guilds, and huge side branches, a bunch of books with lore, a large number of different activities. The main plot is not particularly strong, but even it looks quite interesting. This is the motivation to study. Not just kill some person, simply because a contract fell on him, but get a quest, find out everything, complete it and then get into the Brotherhood and spend another 15 hours completing a large number of tasks with your own separate plot. This is motivation. In Zelda, motivation can only be a sense of one’s own curiosity. After going through 15-20 of these riddles, you can already start to get tired, simply because these are riddles and nothing more. You won’t get anything other than loot and you won’t learn anything.
GoW is simple, there is nothing innovative in it, but its merit is that all elements work as they should and there is no point in separating them from each other. And based on your claims, it turns out that we need to make plots like in MMOs or return to plots in txt files, just so as not to interfere. Otherwise, you never know, the movie will still turn out.
I’ll probably support you here. Plus, GoW3 and Ghost of Sparta had the most convenient QTEs, you didn’t have to concentrate very hard, there was more than enough lateral vision. Yes, and Yakuza is also quite a confirmation that QTE can not only not interfere, but also add the necessary tension while showing some extremely cinematic moment. So the problem is not in the QTEs themselves, but in their use and quantity.
The most common combat system. This is not some mega-discovery. For example, Devil May Cry 4 is much more interesting in this regard. Even the production of cutscenes there is certainly no worse.
So in DMR 4 the most common combat system. Yes, and DOOM also has the most common shooter mechanics. What kind of mega-discoveries are there??
Disadvantages could include a slight overkill with sudden turns that force you to deviate from the route, and a little overdone locations in a couple of places. But even these are more personal quibbles than objective shortcomings. The game turned out really great. I sat in it almost continuously for 5 days and only started to get tired on the last day, and only because I started collecting all the collectibles, and looking at the translucent bright green crows against the backdrop of the sun’s rays is an experience in itself. And even so, collecting loot and scrolls with lore, discovering new equipment, exploring new worlds, and even going through tests, which I personally don’t really like, was one pleasure, and although there are not very many bosses, we don’t count all sorts of trolls and ogres, there are already quite a lot of them, but each boss is a real event. The very first bossfight alone has already proven this.
I also agree about the changes. And even if we don’t take into account the maturation of the industry, it was necessary to change the series, since they had already taken up the sequel, because buying and playing the same game for the 7th time is no longer funny. Ascension has already proven that the concept, even if it works, has already outlived its usefulness, there is nothing to surprise anymore. It’s no longer interesting to watch Kratos puff up and yell at another god. And no matter how ardent “fans” make excuses, changes were needed. I came across one friend who claimed that the new GoW is a crap, simply because Kratos doesn’t scream, the combat is not the same as before, and most importantly because the new GoW is not in Greece. The man whined that the developers had ruined everything with their innovations and were simply parasitic on the name of the series. At the same time, he had an interesting solution: make remakes of the first parts, and at the same time think about what can be done new. This is the very moment that clearly shows that people themselves don’t know what they want. Either they are unhappy that they changed everything, or they are unhappy that they didn’t change anything. And these claims are stupid, ridiculous and absurd. We already have 6 games with the same mechanics, theme and mood, why do we need another one exactly the same??
Well, such disadvantages, again, more like personal nitpicking.
There is simply nowhere and no reason to jump here.
The camera is glued, but the epicness is never lost at all. In GoW3 and Ascension, the camera was constantly moving away, which, on the one hand, made what was happening epic, but on the other hand, very often it was simply not clear where you were and what you were doing.
For gloominess, it’s also rather a personal question, because as for me, it most likely implies a larger amount of tin or something like that. But here the picture is more than bleak. Those people who are not dead eat each other and cut each other, the dead walk around and tear into pieces all living things, trolls, ogres, wolves, werewolves are also not averse to feasting on everything they have. It’s just that all this is more in the background, so to speak. The gloominess of the previous parts was more expressed in the active massacre of everything and everyone, but here everything just died down.
So, as for me, this is also subjective. Points 2 and 3 can, of course, be discussed in more detail, but the complaint about jumping is already in the category of “nothing to complain about”.
